Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is and evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain process and heal from distressing experiences.
Through techniques like guided eye movements, tapping and alternating tones, EMDR helps you recall aspects of a painful memory, reprocess it and reduce its emotional intensity. This can provide relief from symptoms and help you develop healthier believes about yourself and your future.
-
EMDR may be helpful to individuals experiencing:
Trauma or PTSD
Anxiety and panic attacks
Depression
Grief and loss
Childhood trauma or adverse experiences
Relationship or attachment wounds
Low self esteem
Phobias and fears
Life transitions
-
Like all of our therapeutic services, EMDR sessions begin with you. We’ll spend time getting to know your unique story, understanding your specific struggles and pinpointing your goals for therapy.
From there, we’ll guide you through structured phases that may include eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation while you focus on past memories, thoughts or emotions. You’ll remain awake and in control throughout the process, with the ability to pause, ask questions or adjust the pace at any time.
